Log home, cedar siding and deck staining.
Stain chosen for the condition of your wood, sprayed on and back brushed by hand. Cleaning and restoring wood in the foothills and Denver since 2005.
Wood homes need a different kind of care than painted ones. The stain has to suit the wood’s condition, and it has to get down into the grain.
We handle regular maintenance and complete restorations on log homes and cedar-sided houses, plus decks, fences, pergolas and interior wood. Before we quote, we look at the wood with you and recommend the opacity that will protect it best.
Our deck crew uses dust-free sanding and refinishing equipment that takes a deck down to bare wood quickly, then seals it with stain.
Choose the stain by the wood you have.
The condition of the wood decides the opacity. Tap through the four to see how each one changes the same cedar wall.
Semi-transparent stain
Enough pigment to make a color statement while most of the natural grain still shows.
Best forWood in good to fair condition
Every coat is sprayed, then back brushed by hand. That works the stain deeper into the wood, so it protects longer and is less likely to peel.

Why we brush after we spray.
Spraying gets stain onto rough wood fast. Brushing it in right after is what makes it last.
- Longer lasting. Back brushing forces the stain deeper into the wood, so we can apply more of it and it protects longer.
- Less peeling. It creates a better bond between the stain and the surface.
- Better looking. It spreads the stain evenly and fills small cracks for a uniform finish.

“Most recently, they stained our new pergola. As usual, they did a wonderful job.”
Which stain opacity should I choose?
The biggest factor is the condition of the wood. Transparent stain suits wood in excellent condition, semi-transparent suits good to fair wood, and semi-solid or solid stain is best for weathered wood.
Can solid stain go over painted wood?
Yes. Solid color stain can be applied over previously painted surfaces.
What is back brushing?
We spray the stain on with an airless sprayer, then immediately brush over it several times by hand. It forces the stain deeper into the wood, helps it bond so it doesn’t peel, and fills small cracks for an even finish.
Do you work on composite decks?
Yes. We work with composite decks and also refinish fences.
Where can I see stain colors?
Benjamin Moore’s stain color samples are a good place to start. Bring a few you like and we’ll help you narrow them down for your wood.
